Girl (Carla) Meets World

new MOM in japan

take a walk♫

a typhoon is coming!!! or so they said on the news. but the rain clouds are heading off in another direction. so after two weeks being stuck inside, i was ready for a little walk. and the typhoon actually did us a favor and sent us some cool breezes.

Elijah joined us too! She walked with dad and enjoyed it so much she fell asleep. Noah walked with me and was our leader, directing us where to go.

it was our first outing as a family of 4!! and I think everyone enjoyed it!!IMG_2494

MCS

my current situation. (do people use that?). well, anyway. I’m back on the blog!

i’m also back at home from the hospital! I went in on July 16th to prep for my c-section. and on July 17th at 1:35pm Elijah Grace Ashida was brought into the world!!

and so life with 2 children begins!! breastfeeding one and helping get the other ready for school. breastfeeding one and playing with the other. hoping one will stay sleep just a little longer and helping the other get ready for bedtime.

then, mcs; one sleeping at my head, the other at my feet, and me on the edge of the bed trying not to fall off. IMG_2452

but i am thankful for every second of it and know ALL my blessings come from my Father in heaven.

Happy New Year!

Wow! That was quite the gap!!  But its been busy and we’ve gone through a lot of changes.  New/Old job, new school, new dreams, new baby (on the way), and much more!

We went over hurdles and through obstacles but we got through praising God for being with us the entire time.

I just wanted to say “Happy New Year!” because I didn’t say it yet! And I hope to fill in some gaps as time goes by and I get a little more free time when I start MATERNITY LEAVE!!!

Yeah!!  Talk to ya later!

わがまま (wa ga ma ma)

A term I hear my husband using a lot lately with Noah.

in the Google dictionary it is translated as “self-indulgence. ”  A not so common term used to describe 2 year olds however, when defined by Webster :excessive or unrestrained gratification of one’s own appetites, desires, or whims; it sounds about right.

Yep. That would be how I would describe Noah right now. And if he isn’t gratified (which is most of the time) then the waterworks start.  The crocodile tears start flowin.

So what’s a mom like me and a dad supposed to do??!!  Well, I guess I’ll just take these days between the good days a pray the latter occurs with greater frequency.

A New Experience

Mama Chari

so, we are back from the states (about 1 month ago).  sorry I didn’t quite keep up with those journals, but that’s life right!!

mama chari. what’s that? you might ask. it’s a bicycle 🚲 that moms use here in Japan. they have child seats in the front, back, or both!!!  we have finally been able to purchase one with money saved from my once a month English lesson at Kosaka Zion Church.

Beer or Horses?

Day at the park

August 1

this day started off like any other day. Noah woke up at about 4am saying he was hungry. I took him up for half a bowl of oatmeal to settle him down.  After a while longer of rolling around in the bed he finally gets comfortable enough to fall back asleep.

but I unfortunately was still awake. Listening to the birds in the trees, the crickets and cicadas singing, and the occasional snore.

Once the rest of the world decided to wake up we headed to the local park. But not before Noah had his daily ride on the CAT. uncle Phil proved his worthiness and then we headed off.  Noah walked all the way there! It was about 20 minutes on his little legs. Then we walked across the vast fields, played at the playground, swung on the swings and enjoyed the green all around.

What a wonderful way to spend a beautiful day! Noah was a bit shy with the other kids that were around, but he followed behind them wherever they went. And wanted to do what they were doing. Maybe when you’re older Noah!
