Comforts and food

the Flu has infiltrated!! but we didn’t realize it till it got daddy! so that is the real reason we have all had these “colds” recently. but you know what that means… comfort-food!!!

gotta love hot chicken soup. now in the states i like the egg noodles, but my Japanese version has rice. which tastes just as good. this time i also added ginger and sweet potatoes, YUM!

other then that we just rested and relaxed at home. EG helped her bro brush his teeth and we also destroyed (or ate) our gingerbread house!! even more YUM!

well, till next time…cheers

fevers and plans

EG had her first official fever!!! this morning she was her usual self, but by noon she was crying something crazy and her forehead was steaming!! but with her only being 5 months old the only thing I could do is breastfeed and try to make her as comfortable as possible so she can sleep.

then there is big brother who always has energy to spare. he’s been in the habit of watching his favorite monster truck video right when he gets home from school. so I decided to give him a little something to distract him for a while. my plan is for this to become a habit when he gets home rather then watching something on tv. i’ll let you know how it goes!643e6440-05ed-413f-a91f-729cec05b283

prayers for EG!  until next time…

to the Library

since E.G. and I are mobile now, and the weather is cooling off (a little) we started going back to the library!!  This time we met a friend of mine there.

I planned to listen to storytime there, but N. found the cars to be a bit more entertaining. And E.G. just slept. IMG_2873

After saying “bye” to my friend we had a quick snack then head back home on the bus.

Good times!!

Dinner time!!

E.G. loves to be held! Put her down and five minutes later you will regret it. but if you keep holding her your arms and upper back will regret it….

anyway, it was dinner time in the Ashida house and just as were sitting to eat E.G. started to “sing!” N. offered to hold her.  but apparently she’s “too heavy. ” so dad took over.IMG_2857

but E.G. just kept on singin!!! Till she had her own dinner. then she konked out.

the endIMG_2858

the calm

Elijah is a good sleeper during the day. she  wakes up to eat and get her diaper changed. that’s about it.

but I realized that is just until big brother gets home!! then she can’t keep her eyes closed! and even when she looks tired she fights it to stay awake!!IMG_2515

she already knows, life is more exciting with big brother around!!

take a walk♫

a typhoon is coming!!! or so they said on the news. but the rain clouds are heading off in another direction. so after two weeks being stuck inside, i was ready for a little walk. and the typhoon actually did us a favor and sent us some cool breezes.

Elijah joined us too! She walked with dad and enjoyed it so much she fell asleep. Noah walked with me and was our leader, directing us where to go.

it was our first outing as a family of 4!! and I think everyone enjoyed it!!IMG_2494

my current situation. (do people use that?). well, anyway. I’m back on the blog!

i’m also back at home from the hospital! I went in on July 16th to prep for my c-section. and on July 17th at 1:35pm Elijah Grace Ashida was brought into the world!!

and so life with 2 children begins!! breastfeeding one and helping get the other ready for school. breastfeeding one and playing with the other. hoping one will stay sleep just a little longer and helping the other get ready for bedtime.

then, mcs; one sleeping at my head, the other at my feet, and me on the edge of the bed trying not to fall off. IMG_2452

but i am thankful for every second of it and know ALL my blessings come from my Father in heaven.

わがまま (wa ga ma ma)

A term I hear my husband using a lot lately with Noah.

in the Google dictionary it is translated as “self-indulgence. ”  A not so common term used to describe 2 year olds however, when defined by Webster :excessive or unrestrained gratification of one’s own appetites, desires, or whims; it sounds about right.

Yep. That would be how I would describe Noah right now. And if he isn’t gratified (which is most of the time) then the waterworks start.  The crocodile tears start flowin.

So what’s a mom like me and a dad supposed to do??!!  Well, I guess I’ll just take these days between the good days a pray the latter occurs with greater frequency.

Merry and Happy

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

The end of 2016 was a busy rush of work, Christmas events, and running after Noah. But we got through and enjoyed time with family and friends.

We are so thankful for this past year. It had its ups and downs, pains and joys; but all in, we can do nothing but give thanks. We look forward to 2017 and everything that is to come. The pastors message today was “to obey.” To put Christ first in everything and leave your “self” behind. That the Bible is big book about “Love and Sacrifice” and that is how our lives should be too.

So, resolutions!! Resolutions! Goals! Do the best I can for my family. Read the Bible, listen and OBEY. Get across the Pacific Ocean! Love! Sacrifice.

Happy New Year!!! img_9216
